ISLAMABAD: The government has so far brought back more than 225,000 Pakistanis who were stranded in different countries because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Security Dr Moeed Yousuf met Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday and informed him that over 225,000 stranded Pakistanis had been repatriated to Pakistan so far from 70 countries of the world in the operation launched in April this year.

A press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) quoted the SAPM as saying: “The government is fulfilling the prime minister’s commitment of repatriating overseas Pakistanis stranded in different countries of the world due to suspension of flights because of coronavirus pandemic.”

Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and progress made for return of overseas Pakistanis by departments concerned. “Any Pakistani living in any part of the world is our responsibility and the government would strive to fulfill it,” Mr Khan said.
