Link roads in Dir remote areas still blocked by snow

UPPER DIR: Roads linking far-away areas of Upper Dir district to the city have been lying blocked for last two weeks due to heavy snow.

Officials said only one road linking Hayagai Gharbi to Dir city could be reopened after more than two weeks.

The residents of remote areas are complaining about closure of link roads due to which they were facing problems.

Abdullah, a resident of Babozo, Doog Darra, said the area’s link road was still closed to traffic, adding the residents were facing lots of problems.

Farid Khan of Karo Darra said the link road had been closed since heavy snowfall two weeks ago. Taj Munir Haqqani of Ghanshal said snow was still lying on the link road owing to which the residents were facing food shortages.

Nisar Khan, a resident of Delakal area of Brawal tehsil, said their area road was closed to traffic due to snowfall.

Wahab of Thal said a link road of Ghat village was closed owing to heavy snowfall.

Israr Zaman Wardag of Shat Kass, Doog Darra, said the link road could not be reopened due to apathy of the authorities.

The residents of the affected areas demanded of the deputy commissioner to direct the C&W department to move heavy machinery to clear the roads of snow to ease people’s difficulties.
