KARACHI: With a jump of Rs2,600 and Rs2,230 per tola and 10gram in a single day, local gold prices scaled new peaks of Rs93,400 and Rs80,075 respectively.

Worsening tensions bet­ween the US and Iran over killing of top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad last week pushed up world gold price by $26 per ounce to $1,578.

Between the last twelve months, one tola and 10-gram gold prices swelled by Rs25,600 and Rs21,947 on account of $295 per ounce jump in world bullion price.

On Jan 1, 2019, local one tola and 10 gram rates were Rs67,800 and Rs58,128 while international bullion rate was $1,283 per ounce.

One dollar on Jan 1, 2019 was available at Rs 139 as compared to current rate of 155.
