KARACHI: With a jump of Rs2,600 and Rs2,230 per tola and 10gram in a single day, local gold prices scaled new peaks of Rs93,400 and Rs80,075 respectively.
Worsening tensions between the US and Iran over killing of top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad last week pushed up world gold price by $26 per ounce to $1,578.
Between the last twelve months, one tola and 10-gram gold prices swelled by Rs25,600 and Rs21,947 on account of $295 per ounce jump in world bullion price.
On Jan 1, 2019, local one tola and 10 gram rates were Rs67,800 and Rs58,128 while international bullion rate was $1,283 per ounce.
One dollar on Jan 1, 2019 was available at Rs 139 as compared to current rate of 155.
