RAWALPINDI: About 200 personnel of Punjab Constabulary (PC), who had been called for security of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar during his visit to Attock on Sunday, performed their special duty without drinking water and food.

The VVIP battalion, who were sent to Attock from Rawalpindi for the special duty, protested against the Attock police for not providing them drinking water, breakfast and meal and asked their seniors to send them back before the arrival of Mr Buzdar in the city.

As the issue was brought into the knowledge of senior police officers of Punjab Constabulary Rawalpindi, the latter asked the personnel to purchase food from the market which would be reimbursed to them.

As many as 10 police reserves of Punjab Constabulary, comprising 200 personnel, set out for Attock at 3am on Sunday without having breakfast as they were told that they would be served breakfast on reaching there. The chief minister visited Attock to distribute Sehat Insaf Cards among deserving people.

However, on reaching Attock, there was no arrangement of drinking water, refreshment or meal for the battalion.

A report registered with the PC-2 Rawat said Chief Security Officer (CSO) Tayyab Baig of Attock was informed that the PC reserves had been deployed on special duty since 4am and they had not been provided drinking water or meal.

The CSO was reminded again and again but he did not pay any attention towards the situation until the senior officers from Rawat assured the VVIP battalion that they would be reimbursed if they purchased drinking water and food items from the market.

An inquiry into the incident has been initiated and a report on the daily diary of PC Rawat registered.
