PESHAWAR: Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued weather advisory predicting heavy rains across the province from Monday to Wednesday.

The advisory addressed to the deputy commissioners stated that Pakistan Meteorology department had predicted that a shallow westerly wave was presently affecting upper and central parts of country, which was likely to intensify on Sunday evening/night and grip most parts of the country.

It said that under the influence of this system, dust/thunderstorm and rain was expected in scattered places across KP on Saturday.

The advisory said that widespread dust/thunderstorm/rain with few moderate to isolated heavy falls was expected across the province from Monday to Wednesday.

It said that hailstorm was also expected in isolated places during the period.

Heavy rains may trigger landslides in Malakand and Hazara divisions on Tuesday and Wednesday and farmers were advised to take precautionary measures during the period.

The advisory also asked the relevant officers to take all precautionary measures in order to avoid losses and damage to property.

It also asked DCs to inform tourists about weather forecast, ensure availability of all emergency service staff/machinery and other resources and remain vigilant in restoring road links.
