NOWSHERA: Awami National Party general secretary Mian Iftikahr Hussain has said that education is must for progress of society.

Addressing prize distribution ceremony at Mian Rashid Hussain Shaheed Education Academy in Jalozai, he urged resourceful persons to extend support to orphans students studying at academy. The academy has been named after the slain son of the ANP leader.

Mr Hussain said that his only son rendered sacrifice of life but he was happy that 200 orphan students were getting education in the academy, named after him.

The function was attended by a large number of local people. The participants of the ceremony presented various suggestions for improvement of the academy.

The ANP leader said that he was trying his level best to fulfil the demands and need of the students. He said that education was must for a society to make progress. He said that parents should concentrate on the studies of their children. He said some people did not give proper attention to the education of their children and ignored the most important teaching of Islam.

Mr Hussain appreciated some influential people for supporting him in the noble task of providing opportunities of education to orphan children. He said that they would be remembered for long.

He said that the management of the academy was responsible for utilisation of the donated money. He said that donors should ask the management of the academy about utilisation of the donations.

Speaking on the occasion, management director of academy Mohammad Zubair said that the academy was facing financial constraints. He requested the local philanthropists to support the academy in its noble task.

Haji Iftikhar, a member of Pabbi tehsil council, said that establishment of the academy was a great achievement of Mian Iftikhar Hussain.

He said that the academy gave a new direction to the students.

Later, Mian Iftikhar distributed certificates among the position holder students.
