PESHAWAR: Awami National Party president Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that the government should share conditions linked to billions of dollars of loan obtained from Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, he demanded that the government should take parliament into confidence over the deal with Saudi Arabia.
“Selected prime minister should disclose the conditions on which Saudis agreed for giving financial package to Pakistan,” he said. He said that Imran Khan would not repeat policies of military dictators Gen Ziaul Haq and Gen Pervez Musharraf to indulge Pakistan into another war. He recalled that Saudi Arabia had offered a package to the government of Nawaz Sharif, but the parliament had refused it.
“I am afraid that selected prime minister accepted the package to become party against Iran and Yemen,” he said. Reacting to Imran’s speech to the nation on Wednesday, the ANP leader said that the ‘selected’ prime minister should come out of the opposition leader mood and behave like head of the government.
“He (Imran) should not address the nation like opposition leader,” he said, adding that the prime minister always levelled baseless allegations against his rivals.
Mr Asfandyar said that the government should worry about the formation of joint opposition. He pointed out that the new alliance was being formed against anti-democratic forces.
