ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided it will not extend the deadline further for filing of income tax returns. The last date to file returns and statements for the tax year 2017 was Dec 15.
FBR spokesperson Dr Muhammad Iqbal told Dawn that the decision to not extend the deadline had been taken in a meeting chaired by the board’s chairman.
He said that now the taxpayers can file their returns with a penalty in their respective regional tax offices or large taxpayers units.
The FBR has received around one million returns from taxpayers so far as against 1.2m received last year.
