LAHORE: Wapda which has been a leading organization supporting sports at every level and has produced producing high level sportpersons throughout Pakistan history, will be holding its 3rd edition for T12 cricket for schools which will see matches being played in Islamabad and Peshawar with the tournament culminating in Lahore.
The event will be held from Sept 18-22 in which competitive matches are expected like its previous editions.
It may be mentioned that Wapda introduced the T12 concept for schools in 2015 with a theme ‘focus on fitness and fielding’ keeping in view the fielding problems faced by the national teams as well in the domestic cricket. The first edition featuring top eight school teams was played in Lahore.
Osama Zahid of Central model School was declared the best fielder in the inaugural tournament and received his award from chief guest ex-PCB Chairman Shaharyar M Khan and IPC minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada.
The second edition of T12 cricket was held in Karachi from Aug 2-7 this year in which eight schools teams, which had also participated in the A.H. Kardar Trophy early this year, competed. Hassan Jaffery of Happy Palace Grammar School was declared the best fielder.
Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan, ex-chief selector Salahuddin Sallu and ex-Test pacer Saleem Jaffer also witnessed the final.
