KOHAT: Local councillors and elders here have criticised Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and local lawmakers for delaying the reconstruction of building of the women and children hospital and lack of facilities there.

They said that the hospital was awaiting reconstruction for the last 15 years.

Addressing a press conference at the hospital on Friday, district councillor Kiramat complained that he brought his pregnant niece to the hospital who was advised C-Section.

“I waited for several hours while she was in acute pain and called the senior doctors, but nobody turned. However, after much delay the operation was conducted,” he said.

He said that the other day a patient from ward called MPA Ziaullah Bangash and told him that there were no nursing staff or doctors to take care of the patients.

An elder Mr Saeed and UC nazim Bilal Hussain said that the MPA and MNA Shehryar Afridi had been telling lies since 2015 that PC-1 of the hospital’s construction had been prepared and that work would be started soon.

They said that the chief minister too had been making false promises about reconstruction of the hospital.

They said that no major project had been started by the three MPAs and one MNA despite getting billions of rupees royalty funds.

TWO KILLED: Unknown assailants killed two people here on Thursday.

In the first incident, unidentified men killed Abdur Raheem in Mian Garhi and fled the scene. The deceased’s relative Samiullah registered an FIR with the cantonment police station.

In Junglekhel, a young man Hamza was gunned down by unknown men.

His father, Israr Khan, filed a report in the police station. Police have started investigations into both the cases.

Meanwhile, police on Friday arrested the absconding man who was accused of killing his grandmother.

A statement issued here said that on the night between Aug 14 and 15 one Hukam Jana was killed in Bahadar Kot and secretly buried allegedly by one Usman with the connivance of his mother Gul Farhana.

The police later arrested Farhana who told them that her son had killed her mother-in-law, but had escaped to Karachi.

The police after getting information that the accused had come to his home raided the house and arrested him. The police have secured his physical remand from the local court.
