Woman abducted by family recovered

CHAKWAL: The police on Monday recovered the woman who was allegedly abducted by her family, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kazim Ali Naqvi.

“She was recovered from her family from Dina Town in Jhelum,” the DSP said.

The 25-year-old woman, who is a resident of the Jheek Daiwal Village of Jhelum’s Sohawa Tehsil, married a man from the Nara Mughlan Village on May 29 in Rawalpindi’s Aafandi Colony.

Her father registered a kidnapping case against her husband, his brother and sister.

In her application on June 1, the woman said her parents wanted her to marry someone she did not wish to marry, and she had instead chosen to marry according to her own will.

The woman later came to Chakwal on June 8 to record her statement before a judge.

She was kidnapped by her father, brothers and other relatives from the gate of the district court.

After she was recovered on Monday, the woman appeared before a civil judge the same day and said she was not kidnapped by her husband and that she had married him of her own will.

She also told the court she did not want to initiate legal action against her family.

The court ordered the police to escort her to Murree where her husband is serving in the army.
