Five members of banned outfits arrested

LAHORE/MUZAFFARGARH: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police claimed on Monday to have arrested five members of banned outfits from Lahore and Muzaffargarh.

The two picked up from Kamahan area in Lahore belonged to Jamatul Ahrar (JA).

A CTD spokesman said they received information that some terrorists were planning to attack a sensitive installation.

He said a police team conducted a raid at a house in National Bank Cooperative Colony near Kamahan Interchange on Ring Road.

He said the police team arrested two suspected terrorists who were identified as Muhammad Nazir and Mumtaz Khan.

The spokesman said initial investigation revealed that the suspected terrorists were planning to attack personnel of the law-enforcement agencies.

He said the team also recovered explosive and hand grenades from their possession.In Muzaffargarh, the CTD made three arrests in a raid in Mauza Sheikh Umer, some 40 kilometers away from the city.

They said the suspects were identified as Azam, Jamshed and Asghar, adding that the CTD also recovered a hand grenade and other weapons from them.

The suspects, who were allegedly planning a terrorist activity at Muzaffargarh, were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
