TAXILA: Two brothers and their uncle were arrested on Sunday for allegedly setting a man on fire in the Model Town Area, within the limits of the Taxila police station.
Mohammad Imran, 30, was set ablaze on Wednesday allegedly for failing to return a Rs4,000 loan to a factory owner. The victim was admitted to a hospital in Rawalpindi, but did not survive.
The Taxila circle sub-divisional police officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sajid Gondal told Dawn that the factory owner, his brother and their uncle were arrested based on an FIR lodged on the complaint of Mohammad Nisar, the victim’s father. He said further investigations are underway.
Separately, a child was allegedly sexually assaulted in the Wah Cantonment police area on Sunday. His father told the police his son was on his way home from school when a man abducted and assaulted him. The police have registered a case against the suspect after a medical examination of the victim.
