KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah left the metropolis for Duabi on a two-day visit to meet former president Asif Ali Zardari to brief him on the performance of his government and the results of his efforts made so far.

He would also brief Mr Zardari on the development endeavours of the Pakistan Peoples Party government, including a Rs10 billion Karachi package to carry out reconstruction and repair work of roads.

He would also discuss party affairs and other matter of mutual interest with Mr Zardari, who is the president of the PPP-Parliamentarian, in Dubai.

Sources said, as the party chief warned earlier, he might direct the CM to go for a ‘minor reshuffle’ in the Sindh cabinet, replacing those who were not performing with new members.

The sources said that the change of the Sindh governor and speculations vis-a-vis former military dictator Pervez Musharraf’s connection with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement would also come under discussion.

They said that the PPP government was keen to focus on development in Sindh, which is part of its strategy to remain ready for elections if they were held before schedule.

“The political situation could lead to early elections and the PPP leadership is aware of it,” said a source.

Officials said CM Shah would also discuss the matters relating to the party with the ex-president.
