Senior security officials suspended for negligence following Quetta carnage

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri suspended Commandant Police Training Centre (PTC) Captain (retd) Tahir Naveed, Deputy Commandant Yameen Khan and Deputy Superintendent Police Ajmal Khan for allegedly showing negligence during Quetta police academy attack, read a statement issued on Thursday.

The move came following the initial investigations into the incident. Zehri said the major reason behind action against the responsible officers was aimed at stopping such incidents from happening in future.

"No one would be spared for showing negligence," read the statement quoting the chief minister.

The Balochistan government had also formed a Joint Interrogation Team (JIT) headed by Brigadier Bilal to probe into the twin suicide bombing, which left 62 people, mostly police cadets, dead in Quetta.

"Officers of all law enforcement agencies would be part of the JIT to investigate the horrific incident," read the statement.

Zehri had also sent a letter to Balochistan High Court Chief Justice to nominate a judge for the judicial inquiry of the catastrophic incident.
