Three women of a family commit suicide

TAXILA: Three women of a gypsy family died after ingesting poisonous pills after a family dispute in their shanty on Monday in the limits of Attock city police station. Two are in critical condition.

Station House Officer (SHO) Malik Arshad told Dawn that the women of a gypsy family of various ages were brought in to Asfandyar Bokhari Hospital in critical condition and that 15-year-old Fauzia who was the daughter of Rafiq, 13-year-old Sana, daughter of Amanat and 40-year-old Malkani died during treatment.

Meanwhile 19-year-old Sana who is the wife of Babar Ali and 12-year-old Nadia, daughter of Rafiq, were moved to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital as their conditions were critical.

The SHO said members of the family said the women took this step due to a family dispute and that further investigations would determine the cause of the incident. SHO Arshad said that according to preliminary medical reports, all the victims ingested pills in a large quantity.
