‘PCB bio-mechanics lab meets international standards’

LAHORE: The head of Pakistan Cricket Board’s bio-mechanics laboratory, Prof Awais says that the facility meets all the required international standards to get accreditation with the International Cricket Council (ICC).

“According to our record, it is an international standard facility which fulfills all the laid down criteria to get affiliated with the ICC which can send its experts to check its necessary protocols,” Awais told APP here on Monday.

He said the lab has all the modern facilities to check the illegal or suspect bowling actions. “Our lab is open to the ICC experts and we would welcome their useful suggestions for its further improvement,” said Prof Awais.

To a question, he said the world’s other bio mechanics labs are functioning at less spacious places compared to the PCB lab at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the efforts are underway to shift to at a bigger place in the near future.

“Up-gradation of labs, software has been done while its two faculty cameras have been replaced and our lab is working in a perfect manner,” he added.

He said the PCB lab authorities are in touch with other such facilities working in various countries and their experts are likely to visit Pakistan in due course of time whereas our experts will also visit them to seek latest knowledge for up-gradation of the lab on regular basis.

Answering a question, he said the lab will extend services in the field of healthcare apart from correcting the bowlers with suspect action and serving in the field of sports.
