KARACHI: The first Pakistan Banking Awards aiming to honour excellence in the local banking sector will be held in May.
The event will be jointly organised by the Institute Bankers Pakistan (IBP) and Dawn Media Group in collaboration with AF Ferguson & Co.
Chief Executive IBP, Haroon Rasheed said the awards will be given on merit after an in-depth evaluation by some of the most credible and respected experts in the field.
“An impartial jury of experts from the banking and financial services sector has been assembled, who have finalised the categories of awards, and will review submissions received from banks before deciding upon a winner,” he added.
Senior Partner AF Ferguson & Co, Shabbar Zaidi said Pakistani banks have come a long way in providing excellent services to a cross section of society but there is still a long way to go.
“The awards will gear up the banking industry towards further enhancement in services as the awards categories are designed to provide further challenges to banks,” he said.
The jury members for the banking awards include former SBP governor Syed Salim Raza, President and CEO Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance Fuad Hashimi, Chairperson State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan Nargis Ghallo, former Banking Ombudsman Pakistan and former country head SCB Pakistan Azhar Hameed and former regional head Citibank Middle East and Pakistan Shehzad Naqvi.
