Fourth scheduler files petition

ISLAMABAD: A fourth scheduler moved a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday against the inclusion of his name on the Anti-Terrorism Act’s (ATC) watch list.

IHC Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the petition filed by Ansar Ali through his counsel Tariq Mohammad Khan Marwat. The petitioner’s counsel argued before the court that the name of his client had been included in the fourth schedule on surmises and conjectures.

He said his client’s name had not been excluded from the fourth schedule even though he had been cleared of suspicions by security agencies.

After hearing these arguments, the IHC bench adjourned the hearing till April 25 and issued notices to Islamabad chief commissioner, SSP and Bhara Kahu SHO, directing them to submit a reply.

The fourth schedule is a section of the ATA under which those suspected of terrorism are listed and kept under observation. Those on the watch list have to register their attendance with the local police on a regular basis.
