KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced Thursday that the Shikarpur imambargah blast case would be tried in military courts, prompting Shuhada Committee to call off its protests after drawn out negotiations.
Addressing a joint press conference with Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Shikarpur Shuhada Committee leader Allama Maqsood Ali Domki, the provincial information minister said that a joint interrogation team (JIT) will be formed to probe the attack on the imambargah which had claimed the lives of more than 60 people.

He further said that a joint operation would be conducted under the supervision of the provincial apex commitee across Sindh, especially in Shikarpur.
Sharjeel Memon added that strict action would be taken against the activities of banned religious organisations and those inciting religious hatred.

Families affected by the Jan 30 carnage at the Shikapur imambargah had began a long march from Shikarpur to Karachi on Feb 15.
Allama Maqsood Ali Domki announced that the Shikarpur Shuhada Committee had decided to call off protests. He thanked the people of Sindh for welcoming the heirs and relatives of the Shikarpur blast victims.
He said that the provincial government had made sincere efforts for the negotiations especially the provincial chief executive who had played an important role in this regard.

He hope that strict action would be taken against terrorists.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that even though the loss of human lives could not be compensated for, yet the provincial government stood by the victims and their heirs to redress their grievances.

He said that problems cannot be resolved through violence and the government had hoped that the imambargah blast issue was resolved in Shikarpur only.
