RAWALPINDI: Danish ambassador Jesper Moller Sorensen on Wednesday said his country could provide assistance to Pakistan in energy and renewable energy resources to bring it out of the prevailing situation.

He was exchanging views with the business community of Rawalpindi Division at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). RCCI President Syed Asad Mashadi and other office-bearers were also in the meeting.

Mr Sorensen said as member of the European Union, Denmark supported Pakistan in getting the GSP plus status.

“There are law and order issues in some areas of Pakistan but rest of the country is as safe as any other (place) can be,” he said.

“The embassy and RCCI had managed to bring representatives of Danish companies first time ever to Pakistan in October, and arranged meetings with different chambers,” he said.

The ambassador said Denmark generated 42 per cent of its total energy from wind and therefore can play its role in arranging meetings of Danish businessmen with their Pakistani counterparts. He also ensured assistance in agriculture and dairy sectors of Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, RCCI President Syed Asad Mashadi said the RCCI was extending its single country expos to other countries and was willing to organise a single country expo in Denmark.
