RAWALPINDI: A woman allegedly gunned down her younger brother-in-law in the Dehri Hassanabad locality of the city on Thursday.

Police said the suspected killer was arrested and a pistol believed to be the murder weapon recovered from her possession.

The police said the mother of four was alone at her home and her husbad had gone to work when her 27-year-old brother-in-law allegedly tried to assault her at gunpoint.

The suspect told the police investigating officer, Malik Imtiaz, that she killed the man after snatching his own pistol.

The police said though the woman had confessed to the killing and the murder weapon also recovered, an investigation would be conducted to ascertain the circumstances in which the incident occurred. The body of the victim was handed over to his family after a postmortem at the District Headquarters Hospital.
