Three killed in Balochistan violence

QUETTA: At least three people were killed on Saturday in separate incidents of violence in Balochistan.

Unknown armed men opened fire at an oil tanker and killed its driver in the southwestern province's Naseerabad district, police said.

Muhammad Ayub, a police official told Dawn via telephone that two armed motorcyclists opened fire at an oil tanker and killed its driver. The cleaner of the tanker was also injured in the attack. The assailants drove away from the scene after the attack.

In a separate attack, armed men barged into a house and killed two brothers in Balochistan's Kohlu region.

Levies personnel said the incident happened in the Bohri area of Kohlu, adding that the killing was the result of an old tribal dispute. The attackers fled away unhurt after the attack.

Balochistan has been experiencing a sharp rise in violence and targeted killings have become unusually common despite government's claims of tight security in the province.
