Seminary student gunned down in Karachi, another wounded

KARACHI: At least one person was killed and another was wounded in a gun attack in Karachi's Gulshan-i-Iqbal area on Tuesday whereas two bodies were recovered from Ghagar Phatak near Dhabeji on the city's National Highway, DawnNews reported.

Unknown gunmen opened fire on a vehicle near Moti Mahal in Gulshan-i-Iqbal area killing one person and injuring another.

Both the men, in their 20s, were identified as students of a Madrassah Ahsan-ul-Uloom in the area.

The victims were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Fear and panic gripped the area after the incident as enraged residents took to the streets and resorted to stone pelting of vehicles blocking the flow of traffic near Rab Medical Centre.

Additional contingent of Rangers and Police personnel reached the spot.

Moreover two bodies, bearing marks of torture, were recovered from Ghagar Phatak area of Karachi.

The victims, identified as Sanaullah and Masrur, were residents of the city's Shah Faisal Colony and Gulistan-e-Johar areas, respectively.

According to sources, the victims had been abducted before being shot dead.

They were said to have links with political parties.

Meanwhile, two persons were injured in a firing incident in Karachi's Sharafi Goth area.

Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism.
