PPP sweeps Badin in elections

BADIN: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has bagged two National Assembly (NA) and five Sindh Assembly (SA) seats in Sindh’s Badin district.

According to the official results released to local media by District Returning Officer (DRO) of Badin, Dr Fehmida Mirza of PPP secured 1,10684 votes while her opponent Bibi Yasmin Shah of Pakistan Muslim League- Functional (PML-F) received 65,239 votes in NA-225.

Dr Fehmida Mirza, by winning the election for the fourth consecutive time since 1997, has become the third female recipient of this achievement after her slain ex-leader Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and her late mother Begum Nusrat Bhutto, who had won the elections four times consecutively.

Meanwhile, in NA-224, Sardar Kamal Khan Chang of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured 1,27439 votes defeating his rival Ali Asghar Halepoto who received 55,462 votes.

In PS-55 Matli, Mr. Basheer Ahmed Halepoto defeated Raees Ali Akber Nizamani of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) by bagging 51,050 votes while Mr. Nizamani received only 20,835 votes.

Mir Allah Bux Talpur of PPP got 36,605 votes in PS-56 Talhar whereas his opponent Mr Abdul Razzal alias Nasir of PML- F got 21,833 votes.

Mr. Hasnain Ali Mirza, son of Dr Fehmida and Zulfiqar Ali Mirza, crushed his arch rival of PML-F, Syed Ali Bux alias Pappu Shah in PS-57 Tando Bago by getting 50,251 votes while Mr. Shah received 28,878 votes.

Dr Sikander Ali Mandhro of PPP, according to un-official results, has won the election in PS-58, Badin by getting 33,607 votes while his opponents of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Mr Taj Mohammad Mallah secured 27, 400 votes.

Moreover, in PS-59, Shaheed Fazal Rahu (Golarchi) Mohammad Ismail Rahu of (PML-N) was again defeated by PPP’s Mohammad Nawaz Chandio. Mr Chandio, according to the official results, received 38,315 votes while Mr Rahu secured 36,960 votes.
