GUJRANWALA, May 1: The City Tehsil Council has allocated Rs35 million for the construction of Arts Council auditorium at Gulshan Iqbal Park on GT Road.
The decision was taken at a meeting held here on Thursday presided over by DCO Iftikhar Ahmad while City Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad, GCCI president Khwaja Tahir Hasan and other senior officers of the district government participated in it.
The meeting was told that 10 kanals had been reserved for the construction of auditorium. It was also decided that auditorium would be limited to only literary and cultural programmes while stage dramas would not be allowed there.
Meanwhile, the district council also gave an approval for 55 sub-committees after reshuffling.
Wazirabad’s union council Nazim and opposition member Muhammad Hafeez Khilji condemned the decision and termed these sub-committees illegal.
REJECTED: The district council has rejected the complicated process of issuing domicile certificates and suggested that it should be changed instantly.
At a meeting held here on Thursday presided over by District Naib Nazim Gohar Zaman, Nazims of union councils said the district administration should modify the complex process of issuing domicile certificates.
They said the people, including student girls, were facing hardships in getting their domicile documents verified.
The documents, they said, had to be got verified first from the Nazim concerned and then from patwari, qanoongo, tehsildar and finally from the deputy district officer and district officer (Revenue).
