LARKANA, May 1: The Market police has registered an FIR against 22 people, including Chairman Jeay Sindh Mahaz Syed Zain Shah, Advocate Kalpana Devi and Sobho Gianchandani, under sedition charges for violating the Loud Speaker Act on Thursday.

Sub-inspector Gohar Abbas Shah registered the FIR on behalf of the state after receiving instructions from the district police officer, Larkana.

The police had received a complaint against the 22 people stating that they had made speeches in a public meeting held on April 11 in the Jinnahbagh violating the loudspeaker act and speaking against the state.

Some of the other people nominated in the FIR are Sajan Kalhoro, Mazhar Mughal, Ashraf Leghari, Qazi Mushtaque, Ammanullah Shaikh, Riaz Chandio, and Agha Qamar.

It was learnt that the police have also arrested a singer, Nazeer Samo, who had pe formed at a function on the same day.

Advocate Ammanullah Shaikh, who has been nominated in the FIR, on being contacted by this correspondent, said that a case registered under section 124-A PPC is a sedition charge and he would seek bail before arrest from the court.

A senior advocate, Illahi Bakhsh Kehar, and a Munshi of the Market police station have also confirmed that section 124-A PPC is a sedition charge.
