KARACHI, May 1: The chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Hussain, has emphasized the need for acquiring modern knowledge to meet future challenges faced by the Muslim world.

He was speaking on telephone, to a meeting of the All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organisation, called in connection with the reorganization of the APMSO, at the Khurshid Begum Memorial Hall.

He urged the workers to refrain from evoking public sentiments and underlined the need for addressing the genuine problems of the people who, he said, had been toiling to solve these since the inception of the country.

Mr Hussain cautioned against the looming threats to Pakistan’s security and said that in the present times wars could only be won with the help of modern weaponry. He said the Muslim world could not avert attack on Iraq because it lacked the technological capability owing to neglect of education.

Seeking knowledge and taking logical measures was necessary for averting the debacles like Iraq in future, he said.

Mr Hussain chided those who had accused him of being involved in anti-state activities and said that only time would prove who, through the brutal use of force, caused damage to the integrity and security of the country.
