KARACHI, May 1: Sindh minister for local government, Katachi Abadis and special development, Mohammad Hussain Khan has said the government is striving for promotion of education and increase in literacy rate.

He was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Mono Technique College, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, on Thursday.

The government had taken revolutionary steps for promotion of education, such as introducing uniform syllabus across the country and making the examination process and syllabus consonant with the present day needs, the minister said.

He said that more funds would be gradually allocated for education in the next budget. A network of universities, colleges and schools was being spread in the country, he added.

Besides promotion of technical education, the credit for establishing the first ever Urdu varsity also went to the present government, which made it possible for the students to get higher education in the national language, he said.

Earlier, the minister laid the foundation stone of the Government Girls College, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, which would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs28.957 million.—PPI
