Army outclass KESC

LAHORE, April 30: Defending champions Pakistan Army, Railways, Wapda, Navy and Higher Education Commission carved out victories on the second day of the 43rd National basketball championship here at Railways Stadium on Wednesday night.

Army notched up its second victory defeating KESC 73-24. So did hosts Railways when they outstroked Punjab 86-62. Wapda made short work of Police 83-34, Navy outpaced Pakistan Air Force 81-70 and HEC beat Islamabad 55-32.

Armys main scorers were Nawazish (17), Mir Alam (13) and Major Saleem (10). Arif (10) was KESC’s a main scorer.

Azhar (23), Laiquat (18), Shahzad and Mehmood with (10) points each impressed from Railways while Rehman (18) and Zahid (15) shone for Punjab.

Wapda’s heroes were Imran (15), Azhar (12) and Amar (11) while Zahid (15) excelled for Police.

Navy’s main scorers were Mustafa (31) and Umar (21) while Imran (18) and Gul Jan (15) were outstanding for PAF.

Irag Gill (15) and Kashif Yadi (9) put up good show for HEC while Arshad (20) emerged as top scorer for Islamabad.—APP
