PESHAWAR, Dec 9: The government has chalked out a comprehensive health programme to provide maximum medical facilities to the people with the cooperation of the private sector.

This was disclosed by the NWFP secretary health, Muhammad Saleem Khan, while speaking at the opening ceremony of the State of the World’s Newborns, an NGO. The function was organized by the health ministry in collaboration with the US government here on Sunday.

The secretary said that the NWFP government under a dynamic health care scheme has decided to improve the quality and standard of health sector with the help of the public sector.

He said that in spite of the meagre resources, efforts were underway to construct a health department building to start primary health care service.

He said that the infant mortality rate in Pakistan was very high, therefore, the government was introducing a health programme to reduce the ratio of infant mortality.
