DHAKA, Oct 11: Dhaka stocks ended down on Thursday ahead of the Muslim weekend as the small investors booked profit made over the week, brokers said.
The Dhaka Stocks Exchange (DSE) benchmark index for the all-share price fell 10.3 points or 1.47 per cent to close at 692. Losers led gainers 134 to six with 10 remaining unchanged.
Brokers said the index gained 15.53 points in the week.
The DSE-20 index for selected blue chips also fell 17.31 points or 1.4 per cent to 1,222.78.
Both the indices fell as the small investors booked profit on a number of shares which gained substantially during the week, said Yawer Syeed of AIMS, a fund manager in private sector.
He said the market had “now consolidated” after the small investors booked profit ahead of Friday weekend.
Bionic Food fell 1.83 per cent to 10.7 taka on 938,000 shares valued at $0.18 million.
The blue chip share of Beximco Pharma fell 1.99 per cent to 58.9 taka on 849,100 shares valued at 50.75 million taka.
Syeed said both volume and numbers had been increased.
