KARACHI, April 27: Two persons committed suicide in separate incidents in the city on Sunday.
Police said that a man, 30-year-old Rizwan, who was under treatment for drug addiction at a private hospital in Nazimabad, hanged himself from the ceiling fan in his room early Sunday morning.
In the other incident, a young housewife, Rukhsana aged 25, committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her home in Mominabad late Saturday night.
Police said that her husband, Mr Abid, found Rukhsana in a precarious condition when he returned home. She was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she died during treatment, police added.
SHOT DEAD: A petrol pump cashier, Abdul Khaliq, aged 40, on Sunday succumbed to the injuries he had sustained while resisting a robbery at his workplace in Korangi Industrial Area the previous night. He was under treatment at the Jinnah Past-graduate Medical Complex.
ACCIDENT: A man, Iqrar Shah, aged 21, was knocked down by a minibus in the limits of New Town police station. The victim was rushed to the JPMC but pronounced dead on arrival.
Police claimed to have arrested the driver and impounded the vehicle.
In the limits of Gulzar-i-Hijri police station, a family was hit by a speeding minibus causing injuries to the couple and their two children.
Police said that Mr Khalid, aged 35, his wife Shireen and the children, Laiba and Abdul Rehman, were shifted to a private hospital where condition of Mr Khalid was stated to be serious.
