LAHORE: Woman commits suicide

LAHORE, April 26: The wife of a Wapda XEN reportedly committed suicide over a domestic issue in Mughalpura here on Saturday.

Rana Tariq told police that his wife, Azra, 40, had asked him on breakfast to take off from office because she wanted to go for shopping with him as she was preparing for her niece’s marriage.

He said he tried to convince her that he could not take a day off as he had an important meeting at the office to attend but to no avail.

However, after he had left for his office, Azra reportedly locked herself in her room and shot herself dead. A neighbour Faizan, who heard the gunshot, informed the police about the incident. The police reached there and found the body lying in a pool of blood. The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.

Her five children — two sons and three daughters — were at home when the incident took place.

The police claimed that no complaint was lodged from Azra’s parents in this regard.
