LARKANA, Dec7: Firing in Chandka Medical College Hospital on Friday created panic and injured two persons including a minor girl whose condition was said to be critical.

Some unidentified armed men opened fire outside the office of the additional medical superintendent (AMS) of the hospital, Dr Mushtaque Haidri.

The patients and their attendants bacame panicky and ran helter-skelter.

Deedar Magsi, the guard of the AMS, was injured while an stray bullet hit Khalida, aged 8 years, daughter of Azizullah Tagar.

They were admitted to the hospital where the condition of baby was stated to be serious.

Later Dr Haidri registered FIR with Rehmatpur police station against Dr Zulfikar Siyal, Dr Aurangzeb Siyal, Shahid Siyal, Sikandar Siyal and 10 unidentified armed men.

He alleged that they had attacked him after he had exchanged hot words with a wardboy over his slackness in duty.

Police have arrested Dr Aurangzeb Siyal.

Reports say that the attackers also snatched a rifle from Mohammed Alam Magsi, brother of the guard, who was there to meet his brother.

Meanwhile Mohammed Waryam Siyal in his application to SSP alleged that Dr Mushtaque Haidri’s guards attacked Dr Aurangzeb Siyal whom they had gone to meet in the CMCH.

They took Dr Siyal to house and later went to police station for legal action where Dr Haidri was already present, they added.

Instead of action against Dr Haideri, police had detained Dr Aurangzeb at police station, they concluded.

It is learnt that the Rehmatpur police lodged counter FIR against Dr Haidri.

The situation at the CMCH is tense and despite repeated calls the medical superintendent of the CMCH was not available for comments.

BISE: The Sindh governor has appointed Ali Nawaz Palijo and Noor Mohammed Kalhoro as new chairman and secretary respectively of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Larkana.

Mr Palijo would relieve Dr Mehboob Shaikh whose contract has expired on October 28.

The new chairman would take over on Saturday while the secretary has already taken over the charge.
