RAWALPINDI, April 21: The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) decided to hand over four of its employees wanted by the police in connection with the Bano Arcade incident, official source said on Monday.
One of the four employees has retired from service while the rest are still working with the TMA.
“Earlier, they (the TMA) were reluctant to cooperate with the police investigation team, but now they seem to be willing and promised to let them be included in the investigation,” deputy superintendent police, CIA Sardar, Maqsood told Dawn.
The DSP, who is leading the investigation into the incident, said the TMA employees, including Sarfraz Gill, Altaf Bhatti and Malik Yasin will be interrogated in connection with the Bano Arcade collapse on Tuesday.
The inquiry team will record statements of the TMA employees to ascertain the cause of the building collapse and violations committed by its owners during its construction.
Seven innocent people died while more than 40 were injured when Bano Arcade, situated in Satellite Town, caved in on April 4.
