MITHI: Educationist remembered

MITHI, Dec 15 Speakers at a gathering organised by the Hotchand Memorial Committee paid tribute to late Professor Hotchand for his efforts to promote education in Tharparkar district.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Chahangir Goswami, principal, Government Boys Degree College, Mithi, said that Professor Hotchand was not an ordinary individual but an institution, who dedicated his life to education.

As a professor of chemistry and the EDO of education department, Mr Hotchand travelled in the length and breadth of Tharparkar district and motivated its populace to get their children educated, Professor Goswami said.

Government School Teachers' Association leader Arbab Zulfiqar said that the best way to pay tribute to the late professor was to pursue his mission and root out illiteracy from the district.

Ramzan Junejo, regional director, Allama Iqbal Open University, Professor Khanji, Allah Dino and others also spoke on the occasion.

Position holder students of Government Girls' Degree College, Mithi; Government Boys' Degree College, Mithi; and Government Degree College, Diplo; were awarded shields and certificates at the end of the event. — Correspondent
