HYDERABAD, April 21: A district-level child consultation workshop was held here on Monday at the auditorium of Sindhi Language Authority to formulate a national plan of action for the child welfare and development.
The workshop was organised by the provincial commission for child welfare and development in collaboration with the Unicef.
The workshop was attended by students of private and government-run schools as well as the street children.
Participants focused on issues, including children’s rights, child abuse, sexual exploitation, child labour and their basic needs of education and health facilities.
Unicef’s project officer, Manan Rana from Islamabad, Mrs Shahlan R. Din, Dr Ayesha Usman, Shahnaz Afzal, Mr Qaisar and Ms Hira Javed conducted the workshop.
Four children, including Mohammad Ali Keerio, Ahmed Ali, Miss Shahjehan and Miss Fouzia Baloch, were nominated to represent children’s views in a seminar to be held at a local hotel here in connection with the preparation of the action plan.
DUES: The director of excise and taxation, Hyderabad, has informed that assessees should clear outstanding dues, like property tax, professional tax, hotel tax and motor vehicle tax.
He has warned that in case of non-payment of taxes, dues would be recovered along with heavy penalties, which may include attachment of properties.
