GUJRANWALA, April 20: An exchange of fire between two rival groups on Sunday claimed the life of a nursery class girl student while three other children sustained serious bullet injuries in Harer village, Kamoki.

The father of the deceased girl lodged FIRs against both the rival groups.

The groups of Muhammad Asif and Saifullah had been at daggers drawn for quite some time. On Sunday, with the help of their respective supporters they opened indiscriminate fire on each other. Consequently, Sadia died instantly while Mehwish Akhtar (10), Razaullah (9) and Muhammad Jamil (12) received bullet wounds. They were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition. Later, the attackers of both the groups escaped from the scene.

The deceased and the injured children were playing outside their houses at the time of the incident. The exchange of fire between the rival groups continued for half an hour. The body was handed over to her heirs after autopsy.

Police are going into the matter.

FOUR KILLED: Four people, including a minor girl, were killed while a dozen others received injuries in different road accidents in and around the city here on Sunday.

Sonia of Gakkhar Town was on her way to bazaar along with her mother when a speeding truck (IDG-6284) crushed her near the GT Road. She died on the spot.

Emina Bibi, the wife of Abdul Ghani, was knocked down and killed by a coaster on the GT Road, Kamoki. She was crossing the road.

A passerby, Mushtaq Ahmad of Shaheenabad locality died instantly while some dozen passengers sustained injuries when a wagon at high speed overturned on the GT Road. The injured were taken to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition.

Model Town police have arrested the driver and registered a case against him.

An old man, Muhammad Sarwar of Pir Kotli Ahmad Shah Alipur By-pass intersection, was run over by a speeding bus. He died on the spot.
