SHIKARPUR, April 20: The death toll in a clash between two groups of the Atrani Jatoi tribe rose to four as the body of another victim, Ali Mardan Atrani, was recovered from a heap of dry grass at the site of the incident on late Saturday night.

The clash occurred in the Habib Atrani village on Saturday evening after a family dispute between the Hashim and the Ranjho groups of the Atrani Jatoi tribe could not be settled by the tribal elders who had assembled at an Autaq for the purpose.

On Sunday Karim Bukhsh lodged an FIR against Ranjho, Atur, Lal Dino, Jam, Ali Khan and two others, all by caste Atrani, with the Rustam police.

Minister backs LFO: Sindh Minister Imtiaz Ahmad Shaikh has defended the Legal Framework Order and said that political differences should be resolved on the floor of the parliament.

Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, he expressed surprise over opposition members’ attitude regarding the LFO, saying that they were elected in the general election held under the LFO.

Mr Shaikh urged the opposition to work for democracy, economic stability and resolution of people’s problems rather than resorting to agitation.

Referring to the NFC Award and lifting the ban on recruitment, the minister, who is without portfolio, said that the Sindh government had given a new formula to the federal government for the financial award and a policy for recruitment was also being devised.
