Website: Let`s go green!

Published October 30, 2010

Gone are the days when kids only played video games on the computer. Today's kids are smarter than their predecessors and have a share in the actual working of the world.

How about saving the environment, the much needed thing today? But how, you ask? Well EekoWorld, where EEKO stands for 'Environmental Education for Kids Online', is designed to acquaint children with the hazards our Mother Earth and its environment are facing. The site has this eye-soothing green design which surely hints at how the real life environment might look like if we made it green.

You are welcomed by Loco Cheeko, a cute monkey, who gives you some tips on making good choices. Plus, the site hosts different sections like 'Environment' in which you find relevant interesting facts. 'Recycling' and 'Garbage' give you information about how we can, and should, recycle things around us and it will help us have some share in saving the environment.

The next section is 'Air and Water' stating informative facts about different water bodies like seas, oceans, ponds, rains, etc. A video informs you how dangerous chemicals from factories are polluting the environment which, ultimately, pollutes our internal system giving birth to several diseases.

A section focuses on 'Plants and Animals', being a major part of our ecosystem, and we learn about the dangers facing the lives of these poor creatures who cannot voice their woes and, thus, suffer most.

Other sections include 'The Future', 'Eeko Exchange' and the funny Loco Cheeko! Also, you can share your opinion in polls and create your own 'EekoCreature'. Log on to http//pbskids.org/eekoworld/
