NEW DELHI, Dec 7: Libyan leader Moamer Qadhafi’s son said on Friday that the Qadhafi International Foundation, which he heads, had contacted the Pakistan government to facilitate the passage of Arab and other foreign fighters to Pakistan.

“We are in contact with the Pakistan government to provide them with provisional shelter which may protect them from aerial strikes,” said Saiful Islam.

Qadhafi has been suggesting that Arab and other foreign fighters should be sent home where they could “be judged and treated like other prisoners of war under UN supervision”.

Saif, who is in New Delhi on a week-long visit, met Indian Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh, telling him that “whatever government the Afghan people approve of, Libya would also second”.

Saiful Islam voiced disgust at the Northern Alliance over the massacre of Taliban soldiers at the Qila-i-Jangi prison last month and said it was necessary to “rescue” Arab fighters from torture.—AFP
