ISLAMABAD The game of Badminton has been included in the South Asian Games to be held in Bangladesh in January next year.

 

The decision was taken at the South Asian Countries Olympic Committee meeting held in Kathmandu, Nepal.


The Pakistan Badminton Federation, especially Senior Vice President Mr. S. Naqi Mohsin who is also Vice president of Asian Badminton Confederation launched a campaign by contacting all the Presidents and Secretaries of the national badminton federations of South Asian countries and urged them to persuade their Olympic Committees to vote for inclusion of Badminton in South Asian Games.

Aamer Hayat Khan Rokhri, Secretary General Pakistan Badminton Federation pointed out that in the last SAG held in Colombo in 2007 Pakistan bagged six Bronze Medals in badminton events.


We are confident that if training camps are organized by Pakistan Sports Board with the provision of a foreign coach, we will be able to win one or two Silver Medals also, he said.
