All-round show by Shahid

KARACHI, Dec 6: The hosts AKUH finished in the second spot in the Pool of the AKU Ramazan Colour Kit cricket tournament, after an eight-wicket triumph over Apparel Net Gladiators at the AKU Sports ground on Thursday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Apparel Net Gladiators were bowled out for 114 overs in only 17.2 overs. Danish Zaidi (30) and Mansoor Ali (26), were the only two batsmen to reach double figures as paceman Amin Noorani ran amok with fine figures of three for 26 after a hostile spell. Shahid Hussain and Rahim Suleman also got into the act with figures of(2-17) and (2-28) respectively.

Needing only 115 runs for victory, AKUH reached the winning score of 118 for two wickets. Shahid Hussain (39 n.o.) Noor Ali (38) saw their team through to an easy win.

Saturday’s fixture: Citibank v Apparel Net 1-30 p.m. This match will decide the third and fourth position in this tournament.

The semifinals will be played on Sun Dec 9 between the 1st and 4th position in the morning session and 2nd and 3rd position in the afternoon session.
