LAHORE, Oct 10: Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) made a strong reply after a brilliant knock of 119 by former Test captain Moin Khan help PIA reach 383 on the second day of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-I match at LCCA Ground.

KRL were 200 for one in 48.3 overs when play ended early because of poor light.

KRL skipper Ali Naqvi led the way with a polished 76 with 13 boundaries before he was forced to retire hurt after after being hit on his left foot by yorker from Fazle Akbar.

Ali Naqvi, who made 115 on Test debut against South Africa in 1997, and another Test reject Mohammad Ramzan launched the KRL innings in style by putting on 110 for the first wicket. Ramzan was caught by substitute Mahmood Hamid off Fazle Akbar after making 49 off 94 deliveries with aid of eight fours in 150 minutes.

Mohammad Wasim, yet another Test discard, then joined Ali Naqvi in a fruitful partnership of 85 until Ali Naqvi’s 239-minute innings came to a premature end.

Wasim, the slim right-hander, was batting with exactly 50 in a stay of 94 minutes with eight boundaries.
