QUETTA, Sept 6 An activist of the Baloch National Front was killed and five people were injured in an incident of firing in Tump area of Turbat on Sunday.

The BNF accused Frontier Corps personnel of opening fire on a political gathering.

But an FC spokesman denied the allegation and said that an FC convoy had been attacked by armed men from the gathering, injuring two personnel.

He said that the FC used batons and tear gas to disperse the mob.

He also said that a man was killed and five others were injured when armed men in the gathering opened fire.

He said the injured FC men were admitted to a hospital.

The spokesman said that FC had arrested four men involved in the firing and handed them over to police for interrogation.

One of the arrested men was identified as Beebarg.

“This man was also involved in firing on an FC convoy in the same area on Thursday. Two personnel were killed and three others injured in the attack,” said the spokesman.

Meanwhile, a man was shot dead when some people opened fire on a garage in Khuzdar.

According to police, the assailants came on a motorbike and killed Iftikhar Ahmed who worked as a mechanic in the garage.

A spokesman for the Baloch Liberation Army, Azad Baloch, claimed responsibility for the incident.

He said the man had been killed to avenge the firing in Tump. He warned in future settler women would also be attacked because security forces were attacking Baloch women in different areas.

Amanullah Kasi adds The BNF has given a call for strike in protest against the killing of Mukhtiar Baloch in Tump. It said that five people, including two women, had been injured in the incident.

In a statement, BNF leader Salam Sabir accused FC personnel of opening fire on a condolence meeting organised by the Baloch Students Organisation (Azad) in a local school to mark the soyem of Meer Jan Baloch who was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Tump three days ago.

He identified the injured women as Shahnaz Bibi and Janat Bibi and said Shahnaz Bibi was taken to Karachi by a PIA flight from Turbat.

Salam Sabir said the Frontier Corps had arrested Beebarg Baloch, Nasim Baloch, Nadeem Baloch and Qasim Baloch.

He said that strike would be observed in Makran on Monday, in Koh-Jhalawan on Tuesday, Rakshan on Wednesday and Koh-Bolan on Thursday.
