Four killed in train accident

LAHORE, Jan 21 Four people, including two children, were killed in a train accident at Halloki railway crossing in Kahna on Thursday.

The incident took place when four members of a family and a woman were crossing the track. Police said that 37-year-old Shaukat Ali of Halloki village stepped down from Sakhi Express at Halloki railway crossing along with his wife Suraya and children Saba (8) and Abbas (5) and tried to cross the parallel track to reach his nearby village.

Also, a woman identified as 40-year-old Irshad of Chungi Amar Sidhu was getting into the same train. All of them came under the wheels of Awam Express coming to Lahore from Karachi.

Suraya survived but Ali, Saba, Abbas and Irshad died instantly. Police handed over their bodies to their families.

ROAD ACCIDENTS Two children and a man were killed and five injured in three road accidents on Thursday.

A tractor-trolley ran over and killed a 10-year-old boy on Qaid-i-Awam Road in Ghaziabad. The locals placed Muhammad Bilal's body on the road and blocked traffic in protest. The tractor drive fled. Ghaziabad police registered a case against him and impounded his vehicle.

A pickup knocked down and killed a seven-year-old child in Sadaat Colony of Millat Park. Haider Ali of Rehman Street was going to a shop at the time of the incident. The pickup driver fled the scene, leaving his vehicle at the scene. Police impounded the vehicle.

A man was killed and five injured when the tractor-trolley they were occupying fell from the Ravi Bridge early on Thursday morning. The injured identified as Rasheed, Akbar, Nadeem, Liaqat, Sharafat and Shahid were taken to Mayo Hospital, where Rasheed, the father of two and a resident of Kot Radha Kishan, died.

Robberies Robbers robbed three houses and as many people here on Thursday.

Some robbers barged in the house of Muhammad Sharif in Defence-B police precincts and took away cash and valuables worth Rs1.1 million.

Separately, robbers burst into the house of Younas in Harbanspura police precincts and took away cash and valuables worth Rs3 million.

Dr Saleem complained to Johar Town police that three robbers entered his house in D-Block, held his family members at gunpoint and took away valuables worth Rs700,000.
