KARACHI, April 13: Bandits shot dead a student in his house in Orangi Town early Sunday morning.

The police said in the early hours of Sunday 4-5 masked men were peeping into the house of Mukhtar Husain in sector 11 1/2 of Orangi Extension. Sohail Rana, aged 22, came out of the house, when his father raised alarm.

The armed men shot and wounded Sohail. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

His father, Mukhtar Husain, is a shopkeeper in the same area.

Several hours after the incident, area residents protested in front of Orangi Extension police station.

Later after negotiations, the area SHO accompanied the dead man’s family members and area residents when they took the body to the Governor’s House on Sunday morning.

Sources said 9-10 men brought the body to the Governor’s House and demanded immediate arrest of the killers and claimed that the police were behind the killing.

Later, the body was sent back to the Orangi Town for funeral.

The SHO Orangi Extension was detained by the police for several hours. He was later released on the orders of a high-ranking police officer, the sources said.
