HANGU, Dec 5: The councillors of Hangu district decided on Wednesday, to launch a protest movement for securing their rights in the new local government system.

During a meeting here, also attended by women members, they criticized the government for failing to ensure their rights in the new system of governance.

The councillors stated that they would prefer to remain social workers rather than ‘powerless’ union councillors. They announced to hold a meeting of local bodies’ members on Saturday.

Councillors Abdul Wahid Orakzai, Misal Khan, Zahir Shah, Zafar Iqbal and others also spoke on the occasion.

LOADSHEDDING: The residents of Ghiljo, Orakzai Agency, staged a protest demonstration on Wednesday, against unscheduled loadshedding in the area.

They said the unannounced power outages at pressing hours in the early morning and evening had made life miserable during Ramazan. The demonstrators demanded of Wapda to end unscheduled loadshedding.
