ISLAMABAD, Dec 5: The Secretary- General of the Organization of Islamic Conference, Dr Abdelouahed Belkeziz, and Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar on Wednesday held discussions covering a range of issues of concern to Islamic countries, in particular Palestine, Kashmir and Afghanistan.

The OIC secretary- general and the foreign minister expressed deep concern over the latest escalation in Israeli violence in Palestine and the unprecedented attack on the headquarters of President Yasser Arafat, says an announcement by the ministry of foreign affairs.

They said the international community should put pressure on Israel to resume dialogue and respect agreements it had reached with the Palestinian leadership.

“They affirmed that a lasting peace in the Middle East required implementation of the relevant UN resolutions and the establishment of a Palestinian State with Al-Quds as its capital,” the statement said.—APP
